 I thought it would be fun to talk about the places we discover on date nights and so this post will be playing catch up (and then hopefully I'll get to where I am posting things that happen more recently and won't have to play catch up so much!) So, here are date nights from this past winter/beginning of spring (i.e. July-Aug-Sept). Not necessarily in the correct order. First, a little info on dining out in New Zealand. Unless you are going to a take-away type place (which sometimes will have a table or two for you to sit out but not always) you pretty much are expected to have a "booking" for everywhere. Some places will seat you without one, but not always. Also, they plan on your dining experience to be a few hours. However, we are usually done withing 30-60 minutes (depending on the speed of service) I think mostly because we don't drink. We made a booking for 6 and they told us we'd have to be done by 8. I was like - no problem, unless you're telling...

Kia Ora! There is a store in New Zealand called the "2 Plus Dollar Shop". I haven't figured out exactly how it works. There's lots of items without pricing stickers, does that mean it's $2? Is it only not $2 if it has a sticker stating otherwise. I guess I should ask next time I go there. Anywho... I thought you might enjoy seeing what they have to offer at this $2 Plus Dollar Shop (first photo courtesy of Google as I didn't think to take a picture of the outside). Also credit goes to Brynn, she took most of the pictures. I hope you enjoy a little glimpse into NZ's version of a dollar store and maybe get a little chuckle out of some of the products on offer. I was tempted to buy these and I may after we get moved, because I would like to learn to speak te reo Maori. At least a little. Loved seeing this little bit of Americana.
