The Many Cows of Morrinsville
Kia Ora! Welcome to my blog post all about Morrinsville!

For our next trek out we decided to visit Morrinsville, a small town about 30 minutes (33 km) east of Hamilton.
Our main reason for visiting was to check out a Honda Elysion that was for sale there (don't worry, I'll do a whole post all about our car shopping adventure), but we decided if we were going to make the drive out there we might as well go on a little hike and also check out the town.
I did a little research before we left and found what I thought would be a somewhat easier trek but with lots of pretty scenery. A walk along the river, seemed just right.
Here we are just starting off. Ready to go with water bottles and snacks. The trek should take us about an hour or so each way.
Autumn, my camera shy child.
Daniel, definitely not my camera shy child!
Well, apparently I didn't take some pictures that I thought I had taken. After we had walked for not very long, probably about 15 minutes, we discovered that the rest of the trail was closed, due to construction happening on a bridge that the hike went under or on or over, not sure. So, our already somewhat easier hike became a very simple little walk! Oh well! We turned around and headed back to where we started, which had a small park area where we sat and had our not very well earned but still tasty snack!
After our foray into the wilds of the area surrounding Morrinsville we decided to head into town and check it out. We walked up and down the main street. With a population just under 9,000, it's not a very large town. We quickly discovered these cows all over town, each decorated painted in their own unique way. We had fun checking each of them out. We also visited a few op shops, though we didn't find anything to buy, we did find one that had quite a few copies of different Donny Osmond dvd's and if I remember correctly a book about him as well!
I now present for your viewing pleasure:

(Please feel free to click on the pictures, hopefully that will zoom them in a bit and you can see more details, some of them are quite intricate)
Sorry, I don't know what the H stands for.
Also, no clue what this one is about.
Rather appropriate, and on purpose I am sure, this one is just outside a car mechanic shop.
Oh my, excuse my finger in the shot. I'm definitely not a professional photographer, obviously. I especially like the depiction of the robber on this cow (outside of a bank).
While most the cows (well, all except this one) were of the same shape/size/style, this one was totally different and a little disturbing, if you asked me. James was a brave soul and got close to it.
Taking a now well earned break from all the cow sightseeing (and waiting for Mom to finish perusing the op shops).
A Tour of the Morrinsville Cows
Not exactly sure what statement is being made with this cow, something about pigs flying and rainbows, but obviously it wasn't worth me walking all the way across the street to get a better picture, so take that for what it is worth to you.
This one reminds me of car wraps where they are trying to hide the shape of the car from you or make it hard to distinguish.
Even the public toilet had a cow painted on the side of it.
We will conclude our Tour of the Morrinsville Cows with this giant cow that watches over those entering and leaving the quaint town of Morrinsville. I have to say, I really feel like we should have found an ice cream shop, with all these cows around town surely there is some tasty dairy to be had somewhere? May be worth a second trip that way some day.
