Breakfast Date at The River Kitchen

We went out for breakfast one weekend, rather than a dinner. There are lots of cafes and places only open for lunch and breakfast and I have been wanting to try them. This place is called The River Kitchen and it is located on Victoria Street, which I may have mentioned before, but it's where 2/3 of most of the restaurants in Hamilton are! Parking can be a pain, but the food at these places is usually top notch. If I was hoping that parking in the morning would be easier than parking in the evening I was mostly wrong. It was still tricky but we lucked into finding a spot not too far from the restaurant.

Brad deep in thought whilst we try to decide what to order.

We ended up getting a breakfast to share. And apparently I did not take a picture of it for you, but it was tasty. If I recall correctly it was your average breakfast platter - poached eggs, streaky bacon, toast, and I think a yummy tomato relish.

After our date we walked around Victoria Street, checking out the shops and what not.

We found a used bookstore that had shelves that ran quite high! Brad picked up a book to help him learn Maori.

Also, along the street they had this piano where you were welcome to play. I thought we should bring the kids down to play around on it some time.

It was a nice morning out. We also stopped by an op shop (aka thrift store) and picked up a shirt for Brad and just had fun exploring Victoria Street.

I have to add a post script, typing up this review I looked up on Google Maps the River Kitchen and found there is another place called The River Kitchen, but it is located on a golf course. I am quite intrigued as if you look at the photos and what not you will see photos of the place we went but also photos of a different place. I think we may have to go on another breakfast date soon and check out the other River Kitchen!
